DAY 5

Habit building tip

It's Day 5, friends, and you are doing GREAT!

As we all know, it can be challenging to create new habits, no matter how beneficial they may be.  The fact that you're still here tells me that you're the kind of person who commits to something once you set your mind to it, which is impressive.

Sometimes even a commitment of this level can still be challenged by the complex demands of life, so I wanted to offer a habit-building tip that you may find useful.

When you want to hold yourself accountable, what are the ways you've accomplished this in the past?*

Some people find external accountability to be especially helpful.  This can take the form of having a buddy whom you partner with to support each other in achieving a goal.  It can also take the form of posting your progress in some public way like social media.

Others are motivated by more internal factors, and may benefit from creating a calendar or checklist where they track their daily progress.  They may even offer themselves a fun reward to be enjoyed if they achieve their goals.

Whichever approach works for you, I encourage to put one or more of these strategies in place as you continue with this challenge!

It's not too late to invite a buddy to do the remainder of the challenge with you (you can forward today's email or send them a link to this page - the pic at the bottom/right is a link to sign up), or to track your progress either publicly or privately.

You can SO do this!

- Kristin

* One request I would make is to not mentally beat yourself up as a means to self-motivation.  As I address HERE, it doesn't work and only does harm!

Power is the faculty or capacity to act, the strength and potency to accomplish something. It is the vital energy to make choices and decisions. It also includes the capacity to overcome deeply embedded habits and to cultivate higher, more effective ones.
— Stephen R. Covey
