DAY 22

Mindfulness tip

Greetings, meditator friends!

You may have started to notice that daily meditation allows you to REALLY get to know yourself (maybe more than you would prefer).  ;-)

Spending time watching your thoughts, many of which are the same and cycle through your mind over and over again, is an exercise in self-acceptance.

Not having self-acceptance and self-compassion could make this entire undertaking rather unpleasant, in my opinion, so I thought it would be helpful to offer some encouragement on this topic.

As the Pema Chödrön quote included on the page suggests, you are being exceedingly brave by being willing to not only take a close look at your thoughts, but also to observe the inner workings of your mind with curiosity, interest, and a willingness to accept it as it is.

As I mentioned before, it is very important for you to be gentle with yourself throughout this challenge.  There's nothing wrong with aspiring to be the best version of yourself that you can be, but the path to personal growth is only hindered by self-criticism and negative self-talk.

So, pat yourself on the back and give yourself credit for your courage and commitment!

The essence of bravery is being without self-deception.
