APRIL 2018 - GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH DISCOMFORT
We are imperfect beings living in an imperfect world. Every day we experience unexpected challenges and bumps in the road, and the better we can get at rolling with these challenges, the more ease we can have in life. When you feel emotions like disappointment, frustration, or sadness, try to neither feed the emotion nor push the emotion away. Instead of stuffing or perpetuating uncomfortable emotions, try observing them from a detached, third-person perspective. Notice where you feel the emotion in your body, and like a curious scientist, explore the qualities of it. In order to do this, you must “allow” the discomfort to be here and let go of any resistance. By getting to know your discomfort, you take away its power over you.
